Good quality student homes 'in demand'

Investing in buy-to-let properties near to university campuses may be a wise move for property moguls, as one expert has claimed parents are looking for good quality homes for their teenagers.

Marcus Roberts, director of student investment and development at Savills, explained there is likely to be an increase in demand for upmarket student accommodation.

"Parents ... would rather pay a little bit more for their son or daughter to be in quality accommodation in an environment that will be more conducive to getting a 2:1," he remarked.

According to the specialist, expectations are changing when it comes to what type of abode adults are prepared to rent on behalf of their offspring.

As a result, there is expected to be increasing interest in properties located close to campuses, which may inspire landlords to invest in homes based near universities.

Chief executive of Property Frontiers Ray Withers recently claimed student accommodation in Liverpool is one of the most popular and lucrative markets.
