Wimbledon offers short-term let opportunity

Letting agents in London are getting premium rates for short-let properties during Wimbledon, it has been revealed.

Thousands of tennis fans, coaches and professionals from across the globe have made their way to London for this year's event, which continues until July 6th.

According to Sarah Shortridge, director of short lets at Foxtons, it is a fantastic opportunity for letting agents to cash in on the popularity of the tournament.

She told the Telegraph: "Applicants are willing to pay a premium for prime location properties in Wimbledon.

"We let properties for two weeks but charge the same price as a month."

However, it is important that short let properties are well-kept to maintain any hope of securing premium rates.

Meanwhile, although letting agents may have missed the opportunity to take full advantage of Wimbledon, next year's event and the 2012 Olympics also present good opportunities.

Ms Shortridge added that most people coming to the Olympics will want to secure "a base in central London".
