Wales represents a good investment opportunity for landlords, a property expert has claimed.
Welsh estate agency RE/MAX said that Wales has resisted the property market downturn seen elsewhere in the UK, meaning that house prices have remained stable.
According to the agency, Wales is "about five years behind the London and England scene".
Mark Jones, broker owner of RE/MAX, explained that the Welsh market was popular with buy-to-let investors because prices are still quite reasonable.
He commented that "prices here aren't as astronomical as they are elsewhere", although he did admit that Cardiff was currently "a bit overpriced".
He advised those interested in the rental market to exercise careful consideration: "You can get good yields on property in Wales, but you have to be picky and choosy and know what you are looking for."
According to research conducted by ARLA, buy-to-let investors have not been deterred by the credit crunch, with nine out of ten landlords maintaining that they will not be selling their property.
