Transport links 'vital for London rental properties'

This article was brought to you by Rentman the premium rent management software.

Landlords looking to expand their portfolio of London property should consider an area's transport links before deciding to invest, an industry expert has said.

Stephen Ludlow, director of ludlowthompson, explained that people wanted to live in areas which had good transport links and that properties well-served by the tube were likely to remain highly desirable.

He cited the Finsbury Park area, which has connections on the both the Victoria and Piccadilly lines, as an area which has become popular in recent years as a result of its connections.

Mr Ludlow added: "The Jubilee line is interesting. I believe people pay more both in terms of rent and capital prices just to live on the Jubilee line.

"You can go from somewhere like Willesden on the Jubilee line straight to Canary Wharf.

"So you can effectively travel right through London and then back out of London as far as Stratford. And it's modern, it's appealing, it's got that sort of factor about it."

Another expert from ludlowthompson recently claimed that high levels of demand for young professionals meant that many families could no longer afford to rent in popular areas of the capital.
