Investment in training is "crucial" for residential letting agents, one expert has claimed.
Around 70 per cent of estate agents and letting agents are currently signed up to enforce professional standards to protect consumers.
Coupled with a greater scrutiny of customer treatment in sales by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), there is an increasing emphasis on training among lettings agents.
Commenting in the May edition of SQM Magazine, letting agents Fitz-Gibbon noted that providing training equips staff with the skills to provide a premier service.
The company told the magazine: "Intensive training is not just advisable - it's crucial.
"Our employees are internally and externally trained to ensure they provide professional advice to investors and owner occupiers alike."
A recent industry-backed review by former director general of theOffice of Fair Trading, Sir Brian Carsberg, recently suggested that many agents fail to understand the law properly.
He also suggests that Home Information Packs should be abandoned because the costs outweigh the benefits.
