Despite the fact that some landlords have not yet entered into a tenancy deposit scheme (TDS), an industry body is still pleased with how the legislation has been adopted.
Chris Norris, policy officer at the NLA, said that the group was "very encouraged by the take-up" of TDS.
He explained that statistics that indicate that many landlords have not yet registered for a scheme could be misleading.
"Obviously it is only the case that landlords have to take out the insurance if and when they renew or start another tenancy agreement," Mr Norris added.
"There are still a great number of landlords out there that have still have not made a deposit because they have not needed to yet.
"We have been encouraged by the take up, particularly of the insurance-based schemes."
In conclusion, Mr Norrissaid that the NLA supported "anything that improves and raises the standards within the sector".
A recent report by the NLA showed that over 500,000 deposits have been protected under the three schemes since TDS became mandatory on April 6th.
