TDS announces new chief executive

News Category: Industry News

A former management consultant and housing association boss, Steve Harriott, has been appointed as chief executive officer of The Dispute Service, the not-for-profit organisation responsible for the Tenancy Deposit Scheme.

The appointment follows the departure of Lawrence Greenberg in the wake of furious ructions over this year’s subscription price hikes. Agents are currently paying an average of £11.22 per tenant's depositcovered by the scheme.

Harriott will take up the position towards the end of next month.

He has significant experience in the not-for-profit sector as both a management consultant and as a housing association chief executive, at Origin Group in London and Amicus Horizon in the South-East.

Harriott said: “I am delighted to be appointed as chief executive of TDS and am looking forward to creating a customer-focused and efficient organisation in partnership with our key stakeholders in the lettings business.”

Harriott’s task will inevitably include responding to ongoing criticisms from exactly some of those key stakeholders. See the next story.
