Superdensity homes 'to be located near transport'

So-called superdense housing projects will be situated in built-up urban areas and are unlikely to force local residents out of the area.

That is according to Stephen Newman, head of architecture at HTA Arhitects, who said that the developments will be focused on accessible but as yet relatively unpopulated locations.

"The places that are being considered for superdensity schemes are around the tubes in London because they are most accessible, and they are generally places where you don't get large amounts of people living," he said.

Such building programmes aim to ensure the right amount of accommodation is supplied in the right area, to ease the capital's current housing crisis.

"One of main reasons behind superdensity is to provide more housing in central London and by improving supply, the house prices can at least level off, if not drop ultimately," Mr Newman said.ADNFCR-1064-ID-18255306-ADNFCR
