Oxford students braved Britain's winter temperatures by queuing outside a local estate agent in an effort to secure rental accommodation.
Simon Tyrell, associate director of Finders Keepers in Oxford, told the BBC that he found students outside the high street outlet yesterday morning.
Estate agents might decide to take advantage of student demand by setting up letting agencies using property software.
Mr Tyrell told the news provider that he was surprised to see so many students queuing outside at this time of the year.
"An air of panic has come into the market ... people are willing to go that extra mile," he commented.
The number of new tenants on letting agents' books increased by almost 20 per cent in the three months up to the end of August, according to statistics published by Arla.
