Landlords in London are charging in excess of £100 per week for student accommodation, new figures have shown.
HSBC compared average student rents in towns and cities to assess the areas in which command the best returns for landlords.
The lender found that student landlords in the capital can expect a weekly rental income some £40 ahead of Plymouth, which was in second place.
Mean rents in Birmingham and Nottingham were £60, while an average rental income of £50 per week can be expected in Leeds.
News of the findings comes after a recent study conducted by propertyfinder.com showed the increasing tendency for landlords to target university town due to the strong demand for rental accommodation.
The site found that of the top 20 most searched areas in June, 16 were university towns.
