Homeowners, including buy-to-let landlords, can enhance the appeal of a property by making small improvements.
That is according to Paul Smith, chief executive of independent estate agent haart, who suggested several ways in which a property could be made more attractive.
He said that numerous surveys had revealed that neutral colours proved most popular, adding that a weekend would give homeowners sufficient time to "freshen up a room with a lick of paint".
Mr Smith went on to advise: "Make small repairs - replacing light bulbs, fixing broken appliances and mending dripping taps and replacing cracked tiles can have a huge impact on the way your home looks and feels.
"Define your rooms: make sure your rooms all have a specific purpose. For example, a dining room should have a table and chairs. It might mean totally rearranging rooms, but it helps
[to display] your property's full potential."
He also suggested that property owners could invest in new lighting.
