Demand for residential lettings has "risen substantially" over the last year, according to one industry commentator.
There could be an increased requirement for rent software if Property Investor News magazine editor Richard Bowser's opinions are supported.
He said: "There is certainly increased demand for lettings as the sales markets have gone over a cliff."
On the subject of rent, the editor cited anecdotal evidence, which suggests the amount of money tenants have to pay has gone down in value in recent months, although this is not the case in all UK locations.
Mr Bowser's comments come after property website Gumtree.com claimed there has been a 19 per cent increase in the number of people advertising houses to rent on its web pages.
The portal described some of these individuals as "unplandlords" as they have only ended up letting out property due to the current economic crisis or because they have been unable to sell their bricks and mortar for a suitable price.
