Property management may help ensure landlords are less likely to find themselves paying out for damage to their rental homes this winter.
According to research commissioned for Direct Line Home Insurance, 40 per cent of abodes are vulnerable to issues such as frozen pipes and boiler breakdowns.
Head of the organisation Stuart Curson warned people to take preventative maintenance measures rather than wait to experience a problem.
"As the last two winters have demonstrated, bad weather can cause serious damage to property as well as enormous stress to homeowners," he stated.
In 2010, three million Brits were forced to conduct repairs, with the most common problems reported as damage to roofs, frozen or burst pipes, central heating failures and boilers packing up early.
Checking gas appliances may also be a wise idea as the Gas Safe Register recently warned people to have a professional look at their device once a year.
