Aspiring landlords who are looking to purchase a buy-to-let property in a student district have been advised to research the area thoroughly before taking the plunge.
Director of Easyroommate.co.uk Jonathan Moore suggested people looking to specialise in student properties need to give serious consideration to the location of the house before purchasing.
He stated buying abodes in towns and cities that have the best universities could be beneficial and he also noted most students will look for a property that is in close proximity to their campus.
Mr Moore said landlords who do not live in the area may have to use a letting agent to sort out the tenancy arrangements.
As well as this, he warned that academics are less likely to pay the same rent as professionals and student residences could require more regular cleaning attention.
Last month, the National Grid stated too many students have a lack of awareness when it comes to gas safety and urged them to ensure their boilers have the relevant safety documentation when they move in.
