'Reputation' proves crucial Carsons Lettings

Recently rebranded Carsons Lettings in Caversham is performing well in the lettings sector having earned a "reputation for reliability".
Formerly Countrywide Residential Lettings, the agent recently strengthened its partnership with Carsons which has resulted in growth across a number of areas.
According to branch manager Mark Williams, their continued success stems from landlords keen to take advantage of their legislative expertise.
He explained: "Landlords are increasingly wary of the legislative pressures on them, and the potential for failing to comply through ignorance.
"They're not prepared to take these risks themselves, and trust us to deal with all the issues."
Commenting to the BBC, Leonie Kerswill, tax partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, has warned of the potential pitfalls associated with short-term lettings during sports events and festivals.
She notes that even homeowners renting out single rooms in their own property must declare their income in an annual self-assessment tax return.
