Landlords need to consider a number of property management issues in order to stay focused in the recession.
At least that is the opinion of National Landlords Association (NLA) chairman David Salusbury, who has said that property portfolios need to be reviewed.
In a statement in the latest edition of UK Landlord, the industry figure advised property owners and letting agents to focus on tenants, the facilities they provide and how they can make rents more competitive.
"They should do what prudent business people do and review their lettings with a view to maintaining their competitive edge," he explained.
Commenting on the current marketplace, which has seen house prices drop over the last 12 months - in the US and Middle East, as well as the UK - Mr Salusbury suggested that landlords with funding streams in place may have the opportunity to expand portfolios.
However, landlords should not over-extend themselves financially, the NLA representative added.
