Many older people in the UK would prefer to continue to rent a property than deal with the hassle of buying their own place.
Research from the AA found that 42 per cent of people aged over 55 would rather continue to rent than look to purchase their own home.
Many (29 per cent) of the homeowners questioned by the AA revealed that they were unhappy with the property they had bought and this suggests that people could enjoy the freedom to move on that renting offers.
Recently, Malcolm Harrison, spokesperson for Arla, said that more people could choose the rent if house prices started to drop.
He explained: "Buy-to-let is quite predictable - in that if there is a slow-down in house prices you know there is going to be more rental demand, and that always means the case of a thriving rental sector."
