Landlords are currently thinking about the "long-term demand for good quality rental properties" that has arisen due to the difficulties facing first-time buyers in the UK, according to Clarity Commercial manager Chris Jenkins.
Therefore "it is no surprise" that landlords are looking to add to their property management portfolios, he added.
As those looking to get on to the housing ladder for the first time continue to encounter problems obtaining finance to purchase bricks and mortar, landlords will be able to take advantage.
Property management software is also available for landlords looking for ways to improve the service they provide.
Mr Jenkins said: "It is too early to say whether we have reached a turning point where more landlords are going to expand their portfolio, however there are some excellent deals out there from repossessed properties."
Association of Residential Letting Agent figures from last month show that 4.7 per cent of its members reported that landlords were selling more properties in the opening three months of 2009, compared to seven per cent in the final quarter of last year.
