There is no better time for landlords and letting agents to think about the energy-efficiency performance of their properties, it has been suggested.
According to Carl Mimmack from Birmingham-based letting agent Accord, green property management could have a positive effect on boosting a home's value.
Foil panel radiators, energy-saving light bulbs, an efficient boiler and advising tenants to switch appliances off after use were among the environmentally-conscious activities he suggested.
Mr Mimmack continued: "Cavity walls can easily be insulated for a few hundred pounds, and with the money you can save over a few months, this can be very worthwhile project."
He added that draught proofing, which can cut heating bills, is often covered under the Landlord's Energy Saving Allowance, a government grant which offers tax breaks for landlords carrying out certain energy-efficient improvements on their properties.
The advice on green residential lettings strategies comes as the Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes is today hosting a conference for landlords and letting agents at City Hall in London.
Entitled Save Energy, Save Money, it intends to show guests how going green gives agents and landlords a marketing advantage for securing tenancy agreements.
