The National Landlords Association (NLA) is to merge with the National Federation of Residential Landlords (NFRL), it has been announced.
The merger will result in the creation of the largest representative body for landlords in the UK, with the new organisation retaining the title of the National Landlords Association.
David Salubury, chairman of the NLA, said the decision to form a single body for landlords had been taken in response to research showing that its members felt that they would benefit from a single, unified voice acting on their behalf.
He added: "The aims and objectives of the NFRL and NLA are very similar. It is these synergies which make the merger an obvious next step for both organisations.
"The newly enlarged NLA, with almost 20,000 paid-up landlord members, is now the pre-eminent voice for the private-rented sector and this will mean increased commercial benefits to our members but also a greater ability to influence policy at all levels."
