NLA Scotland, the latest division of the NLA, was formally launched yesterday (Wednesday, February 27th).

Speaking at a reception, held last night at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, Jim Parker, chairman of NLA Scotland, said that while the new division would "have very much its own identity", it would benefit greatly from being part of a UK-wide trade body.

He noted that around eight per cent of households in Scotland were accounted for by the private-rented sector, and observed that the recent Scottish Green Paper outlined the goal of maximising the sector's potential.

Mr Parker commented: "The launch of NLA Scotland is a critical development for the private-rented sector in Scotland.

"The NLA is the largest association of its kind in the UK and we will now be offering an increasing number of services to our Scottish landlord members including specific advice, policy support and information.

"Nowadays, there are a very wide range of issues which impact on landlords up and down the country and this development seeks to serve our Scottish members even more as they meet these challenges."
