NLA joins with the North Cumbria Landlords Association

The National Landlords Association (NLA) and the North Cumbria Landlords Association (NCLA) have formally merged to create a single body.

David Salusbury, chairman of the NLA, welcomed the move and said that the current regulatory system in place in the UK made it increasingly important that landlords work together to represent their interests.

He added: "At no time in recent history has it been more important for private landlords to work together to present a united approach to ensure that this and any future legislation is fair to landlords and is implemented in a measured, practical way and, above all, with a light rein.

"Landlords play a vital role in the housing market in Cumbria and that needs to be recognised. Their contribution needs to be nurtured, not over-burdened with heavy regulation at local level."

Jonty Rostron, joint chairman of the NCLA, said that the move would give landlords a "coherent voice" that could be used to ensure government listens to the needs and concerns of the industry.

According to its website, the NLA exists "to protect and promote the interests of residential landlords operating in the private rented sector throughout the country".
