A letting agent who was a franchisee of Belvoir has admitted stealing £143,325 of client money.
David Sole appeared at Norwich Crown Court, which heard that the theft came to light when a tenant contacted Belvoir's head office because money he had paid over to Belvoir Norwich had not been passed on to his landlord. Landlords, including one who was owed more than £3,000, also came forward.
The office was closed in December 2009 when the firm's head office in Grantham, Lincolnshire, sent a team to look at documents, subsequently reporting the matter to the police.
Judge Peter Jacobs adjourned sentencing until November, but warned Sole that all options would be considered.
