MPs going on their summer break have been urged to spend some of their time off talking to landlords about issues that affect them.
According to the National Landlords Association (NLA), it is important that the country's lawmakers get an idea of the needs of Britain's one million landlords.
Dr Vincenzo Rampulla, spokesman for the organisation, criticised the coalition's plans for local housing allowance (LHA), explaining that it is unrealistic for parliament - which will reconvene in September - to expect landlords to cover the cost of the cuts.
"At the moment the government seems to think that landlords can easily accommodate a 20 per cent cut in rents and still operate with the business risk that LHA presents," he said.
The NLA has previously stated that LHA has failed to meet its target of empowering tenants and has instead forced landlords to leave the housing market, thus reducing the amount of available homes in the private rented sector.
