Money to be made in Isle of Wight rental sector

The Isle of Wight is one of the top places to invest in property in the UK, according to local agents Hose Rhodes Dickson.

As well as boasting among the highest number of sunshine hours in the UK per year, and a commendable commitment to green issues, the island holds a great deal of potential.

Hose Rhodes and Dickson partner Richard Dickinson said that people were attracting by yachting towns such as Cowes, and increasingly Ventnor is becoming popular. Most of the houses in this town - known as the Madiera of the South - have "glorious sea views", he said.

"The Isle of Wight prices are likely to hold better than in many parts of the country," he continued. "You could argue that we have the feel of England ten years age. The island has got a great future."

He added: "There is money to be made in renting property out."
