Many landlords have a good relationship with their young tenants.
That is according to a recent report by Alliance and Leicester Mortgages, which has discovered that ten per cent of tenants aged between 25 and 34 considered their landlord a friend.
The survey also found that 21 per cent of renters from this age group said that they interact socially with their landlord.
In turn, one in seven landlords maintained that they think of their tenants as friends.
Commenting on the findings, Stephen Leonard, director of mortgages at Alliance and Leicester, said: "It's encouraging that so many landlords and tenants enjoy a good relationship, as this can help ensure any issues of dispute relating to the rented property are settled amicably and on good terms.
"With so many young tenants living long distances away from their family and friends, it's clearly very useful to have somebody they trust to turn to for support."
