Letting agents set for busier 2010 in Scotland

Landlords and letting agents could be about to see business pick up in Scotland, according to a report.
Property website Citylets found time-to-let, an important indicator of the market, decrease during the final quarter of 2009.
Market analyst at Citylets Dan Cookson said supply and demand in the rental market would be better balanced as a result of the news and that it was a boost to landlords and letting agents.
"Linked to the cheaper cost of mortgages and property, it could act as a trigger to spark life back into Scotland's buy-to-let market."
Properties in Edinburgh were taking a week less time to be let in the final quarter of 2009 compared to the third quarter.
The trend is good news for landlords and letting agents, said Thomas Ashdown, who set up Citylets in 1999.
There was more encouraging news for landlords with Edinburgh letting agent DJ Alexander securing 102 lettings last month, its best results for December in its 27-year history.
