Letting agents no longer shocked by 'bizarre objects'

News Category: Management

A new kitchen, sex toys and iPods are among the bizarre objects letting agents are used to encountering after previous tenants have left their properties behind, reports Deadline Press & Picture Agency.

One property even featured a stash of hundreds of photos of mannequins, an Edinburgh-based property management firm told the news agency.

The manager of the company told the news provider: "It's got to the point where nothing really shocks us anymore when we're inspecting properties that have been recently vacated by tenants.

"But every now and again, there will be something weird and unusual left behind in a property."

When an old tenant leaves rented accommodation, letting agents clean out the property to ensure it is in suitable condition for future residents.

Letting agents consider property management software to assist with such work.

In November, the NLA warned that property management costs could soar during the winter period and advised landlords to prepare tenants on how to handle a power cut or pipe leak.
