Letting agents invited to put homes under the hammer

Tenants have the chance to bid the rent they can afford to pay at a new rental property auction website.

Birmingham-based online firm bidurrent.com allows tenants to bid rent offers on properties which are listed on the website by letting agents and landlords.

"Our website provides a fast and simple, mutually beneficial service to both sides of the rental industry," said Phillip Smith, website content manager at Bidurrent.com.

Search features at the online portal are also said to offer prospective tenants the ability to search for homes listed in specific geographical areas.

Letting agents' contact details and pictures of properties are also searchable for users of the site.

As well as residential lettings, the website will feature holiday homes, office space, land and commercial and industrial properties, all charged at £1 per listing.

The website is expecting an increasing number of rental properties to be listed and this prediction comes after research by Paragon Mortgages last month showed that four in ten landlords felt confident that tenant demand would continue to improve over the next 12 months.
