Letting agents 'increasingly using property floor plans'

News Category: Marketing

The number of letting agents who use floor plans to showcase properties to tenants is on the up, according to an industry source.

Brian Farrell, director of floor plan supplier Metropix, told The Negotiator that his firm dealt with far more orders during the first quarter of the year compared to the same period in 2010.

The company processed 158,400 documents - up from 131,000 - despite Land Registry figures showing property transactions are lower this year.

Mr Farrell described how this offers letting agents some interesting insight into the state of the market, with more residences being marketed, but less being sold.

"The number of floor plans processed by Metropix provides a good barometer as to what is happening in the residential sales market," he noted.

According to the Council of Mortgage Lenders, gross mortgage lending increased by 16 per cent in the second quarter of the year, but was down by three per cent compared to the same three months in 2010.
