Letting agents buoyed by strong rental demand in Reading area

Letting agents are benefiting from strong demand for rental accommodation in the Reading area, according to Carson Lettings.

The firm, which is based in Reading's upscale Caversham and recently confirmed plans to expand its business, reports that demand is growing from potential tenants in Wokingham, Newbury and Mortimer.

Mark Williams, manager of the company, told getbracknell.co.uk: "We continue to see a regular turnover of young professional tenants, many working in London, as well as a growth in the number of tenants staying for longer periods of three years or more, so this is good news for landlords, which is one reason why we are spreading our net into other areas."

However, Mr Williams also noted an increase in the number of fully managed properties on Carson's books, which he attributed to the fact that landlords are becoming "increasingly wary of the legislative pressures on them and the potential for failing to comply through ignorance".
