A more relaxed attitude among first-time buyers is providing a boost to the residential lettings market, according to SmartNewHomes.
Research by the company indicates that just under half (44 per cent) of first time buyers will wait until their 30s to buy a home.
However, seven per cent of Britons will have filled letting agents with confidence, claiming that they will never own there own home.
According to David Bexon, SmartNewHomes managing director, first-time buyers tend to be more aware of their options than they used to be.
He said: "These days there seems to be less pressure on first-time buyers to get on the housing ladder at all costs, although they have by no means given up on the market.
"If anything, they are just cannier about the many options available to them, increasingly well-informed on price fluctuations, and willing to hold out for the best deals to come along."
