A letting agent has advised landlords how to avoid their properties going through void periods, stating that this is the worst nightmare for those who are trying to rent out properties.
According to Rick Flay of letting agent Belvoir, landlords should paint their houses with a neutral colour scheme in order to avoid putting off potential tenants.
He said: "It is always best to play it safe to avoid putting off any potential tenants, plus using a neutral palette will make the rooms look bigger whilst drawing in more light."
The letting agent added that landlords who want to make their homes more energy-efficient could install double glazing.
He explained that this could also make the property appear to be more private if it is located on a busy road, because the new windows will help to reduce noise.
This comes after Simon Thompson, managing director of Accommodationforstudents.com, said landlords who are looking to rent their homes to students should paint walls rather than wallpaper them.
