A letting agent has helped the police to uncover more than 250 cannabis plants at a property.

Former police officer Sophie Weston was inspecting the house in Three Bridges as part of her duties as a letting agent and suspected drugs were being grown on the premises.

She said that although the tenants had taken care to fill in the tell-tale drilled holes in the walls, she still knew what was happening there.

Speaking to the Crawley Observer, she said: "They were very clever and any normal letting agent would have thought that this was any normal property but because of my experience I knew better."

After Ms Weston told the local police force of her suspicions, 272 cannabis plants were found in the property.

This coincides with news that police in Grimsby have recovered 800 cannabis plants from a property.

Police said the value of the drugs could be thousands of pounds, reports the Grimsby Telegraph.
