The NAEA and ARLA have welcomed the launch of an enhanced crime map aimed at people who are looking to move into a new area.
Last week, the Home Office revealed it had improved the Crime Map on its Police UK website, after the first incarnation of the system received 430 million hits since its release earlier this year.
People looking to rent property in an unfamiliar area can utilise the resource to check out the crime levels and police force's performance in that particular region.
Chief executive of the NAEA Peter Bolton King said the map is a "good idea in principal", but urged those who are looking for a new tenancy agreement not to limit themselves to just one source of information.
"This should always be used as one of a range of tools, rather than a definitive measure for making a decision about any one area," he commented.
