Let's do it for Sean: a national dress-down day

News Category: Industry News

Do you fancy joining in a national estate agency dress down day next Thursday to help Sean Newman ‘complete the journey’?

The idea comes from Lee Wainwright of Dixons Estate Agents in Bromsgrove.

He has written to Midlands agents asking them to take part, but EAT believes it is such a good idea that it ought to be a national effort.

As EAT readers will be aware, Newman – chairman of Newmans, also in the Midlands – was seriously injured while on a charity cycle ride across the US with his colleague James Golding, a survivor of cancer.

Newman broke his back, both legs and pelvis when hit by a truck going at 70mph. He and Golding had so far raised nearly £50,000 for cancer charities Macmillan, Livestrong and Coppafeel, but had set their hearts on raising double that.

Wainwright has written to agents in his region, saying it is right that those who are normally competitors should help Newman finish what he started and ensure the £100,000 objective is achieved.

“I really hope that our industry pulls together to support the efforts made by Sean and James. I can provide a supporting marketing leaflet if anyone would like something to put in their window displays. Email me at lw@dixonscountrywide.co.uk

“These two people are individuals that the whole of our industry can be truly proud of and they thoroughly deserve our support.”

If the idea of a dress down day appeals, EAT would like to suggest that participants put a minimum of £5 in the pot and invite friends, family and the public to chip in as well.

EAT would also like to receive your pictures of the day. And we’ll do our bit by arranging some truly excellent PR for the entire estate agency industry by shamelessly grovelling to our favourite, most accomplished and altogether truly wonderful PR company to do something free for the cause – yes, Wriglesworth, we’re talking about you!
