More and more landlords use the internet to look for new property to add to their portfolios, a report suggests.
The study, carried out by Halifax, found that ten per cent of people looking to purchase a new property - either as their home or as a rental investment - started their search on the internet.
However, the research also showed that online searching for property is set to become more popular in the future, with 29 per cent of landlords saying that they plan to use this tool in the future.
Equally, it was found that younger landlords use the internet more to search for new properties.
"Finding a new property on the internet has certainly increased in popularity with the ease of searching from your own home and the ability to search thousands of properties at a click of a button revolutionising the process," explained Colin Kemp, the managing director for Halifax Estate Agents.
Recently, a survey by YouGov found that many landlords did not trust estate agents and so were looking for new properties in less conventional ways.
