Two UK landlords have been hit with a heavy fine for breaching a planning enforcement notice.
Sajid Daud Ismail and Shakil Daud Ismail of Surrey were fined £750 each in a case brought by Enfield council.
The two brothers were also ordered to pay £434.85 and a victim surcharge of £15 each after they pleaded guilty to being in breach of planning regulations.
They were facing charges after they built an extension to property despite not having planning permission.
In response the council had issued an enforcement notice which compelled the property owners to demolish it, residentiallandlord.com reports.
Subsequent notices were then not acted upon by the pair, prompting the council to pursue a course of legal action.
The brothers had claimed that the work had not been carried out because their student tenants had not wanted to leave the building.
