Landlords 'only pay small commission' to letting agents

Landlords should employ the services of a letting agent in order to make their property management easier.

This is the view of Rick Flay from letting agent Belvoir, who stated that landlords pay only a "small commission" to the letting agent for their work.

Writing on his personal blog, he added that landlords need to decide how involved they want to be in the property management side of their business.

"If the landlord purely views the property as a source of income and nothing more, perhaps choosing to use a letting agent to manage the property is a wise course of action," he said.

Mr Flay explained that this is because the letting agent can be expected to handle all the necessary interaction with the tenant, leaving the landlord with free time.

In a previous post on his blog, the letting agent advised landlords to get ready for a shift in the property market, as he predicted a more continental system could be on the way for Britain.
