Buy-to-let landlords should ensure that they only use qualified, regulated agents, as "there is too much money at stake" in the private rented sector.
That is according to Arla's new president David McMaster, who has almost 20 years experience in lettings and took over this month from Robert Jordan.
It is his belief that, due to the increasing difficulties faced by those looking to get onto the UK's property ladder, the private rented sector will be even more important in providing people with housing.
Mr McMaster commented: "In the current market, it is vital that Arla members take every opportunity to reinforce the message we must promote to the public. They must use only regulated agents who are qualified in lettings and residential management.
"There is too much money at stake in rents, deposits and the value of people's homes and investments to ignore the benefits of using a professional Arla agent."
