Recent figures from buy-to-let lender Mortgage Trust suggest that the number of private landlords renting to immigrants has increased significantly over the last 12 months.
This has caused rental growth and increased yields in the sector.
According to the research, 28 per cent of landlords let out homes to immigrants in September, compared to 4.6 per cent in the same month in 2006.
This has been caused by a large number of immigrants from the countries that joined the EU in 2004, such as Poland and the Czech Republic.
Together with strong demand from students and young professionals, this will bolster returns for landlords in the future.
"Buy-to-let will be underpinned by strong tenant demand over the medium to long-term. Indeed, this factor has already contributed to a seven per cent increase in rents over the past year," said the Mortgage Trust's John Heron.
Meanwhile figures from the National Approved Letting Scheme indicate that landlords are increasingly satisfied with the quality of service being provided to them.
