Landlords have been issued with advice on what to look for from a letting agent.
Michael Oakes of letting agent Young London said that there were many things a landlord could do to find the right agent to rent out their properties.
Mr Oakes advised testing the letting agent on a variety of matters such as Home Information Packs and Energy Performance Certificates in order to see how knowledgeable and informed they are.
"A good agent should be able to talk about these confidently and explain your legal obligations when selling or letting," he commented.
Mr Oakes added that landlords should have a list of questions ready to ask the letting agent, such as how quickly they would expect to rent out the house.
Landlords could also see how online-savvy letting agents are and see if they have embraced social media in an attempt to broaden their audience.
This comes after Serena Cowdy of Lovemoney.co.uk advised potential renters who are worried about the possibility of being scammed to use a professional letting agent rather than searching for homes online.
