Landlords that own listed properties can install environmental improvements but the process is tricky, an industry expert has warned.
Recently, Robin Hood-Leeder, director of membership services at the Federation of Master Builders, explained that landlords were increasingly finding that adding environmental features to their properties helped to increase their value.
However, Kelly Smith, director of the Listed Property Owners Club, explained that it can sometime be hard for landlords who own listed buildings to make these improvements.
She explained: "Sometimes it does prove very difficult because of the rules and regulations that surround listed buildings.
"Anybody who wants to do any changes first of all needs to get it approved with the conservation officer at the local council.
"But there are sometimes ways around it; if double glazing isn't allowed thensecondary glazing usually is, because it's reversible and doesn't damage the property at all."
Ms Smith pointed out that landlords would usually be able to install systems "as long as it's not damaging the property".
