Landlords can now arm themselves with information about crime rates in areas where they are looking to buy a property, with the launch of reports from Landmark Information Group.

The company claims that its Areaview and Plansearch Plus reports will enable landlords to make a more informed decision before buying a property and avoid making a purchase in an area that is likely to put off potential tenants.

It will also inform them if they need to make any extra security arrangements before buying, according to James Sherwood-Rogers, managing director of Landmark Legal and Financial.

He told residentiallandlord.co.uk: "Our Areaview Report provides homeowners and homebuyers with information on crime rates, as well as information on the number of theft insurance claims in the locations - which is unique to Landmark.
