A landlord has been fined tens of thousands of pounds for flouting health and safety regulations.
Madhu Bhajanehatti was hit with a fine of £24,840 for 12 violations and has been ordered to pay costs of £13,481 and a government surcharge of £15.
The case followed an inspection of flats for which he was unable to provide written records of boiler checks for 12 flats he owns in Great Yarmouth.
As a result his tenants were put at risk of gas leaks and carbon monoxide poisoning.
His fine also reflects the fact that Mr Bhajanehatti had initially been asked to provide the documents by Health and Safety Executive inspectors in February 2007.
However, he ignored this request as well as a further notice in July 2007, the Eastern Daily Press reports.
Mr Bhajanehatti was prosecuted under the Gas Safety (installation and use) Act 1998 at a hearing at YarmouthMagistrates' Court.
