A Berkshire landlord has urged fellow property investors to make checks on their houses, after discovering one of his tenants had set up a cannabis factory.

The landlord, who has requested anonymity, came upon the £250,000 cannabis operation when he visited his multi-storey detached house in Langley for a pre-arranged meeting with his tenant.

However, upon finding no-one in, he walked around the house and saw 800 plants filling the rooms.

He told 24dash.com: "I managed to pull down the layers and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw just rows and rows of plants. I couldn't see the ground. The plants were around 5ft 6in high. I could also see that the front window had been covered with some form of thick sheeting.

"There were wires everywhere, pipes coming from the ceiling and rows of lighting."

Police have subsequently established that the tenant had alsosub-let the property, but have yet to make any arrests.
