An Oxford landlord has been ordered to pay £17,890 after for renting out a property that was deemed dangerous to occupants.
Maria Rosa De Simone Ramjohn of Marston Road, Oxford, pleaded guilty to seven breaches of health and safety regulations.
Each separate offence accrued a fine of £2,500, with costs of £392 making up the rest of the total.
His prosecution followed a visit from an Environmental Health officer who discovered that his property was in a poor state of repair.
Among the flaws in the building were rotted ceiling joists, a malfunctioning smoke alarm and a hole in the floor.
Oxford councillor Ed Turner, city executive board member for housing, said: "This is another large fine from the courts which reflects the seriousness of the case.
"It should help to convey that the Council is determined to stop landlords expecting people tolive in appalling conditions and will prosecute anyone flouting the regulations."
