Landlord fined£8,000 for ignoring tenant limits

A landlord has been hit with a fine of £8,000 after he was found to be flouting rental regulations.
Manuel Ridierp of Lincolnshire, who was also ordered to pay costs, was discovered to be renting out the property in Queens Road, Boston to five tenants.
He had previously been served a notice to limit his number of tenants and to provide details of their identities in November last year.
However, a police raid found that he had not complied with the order, with 13 people found to be housed in the four-bedroom property.
The officers also discovered that the tenants were living in poor conditions and that fire safety reguatations had been disregarded.
Mr Riderierp was charged under the Houisng Act of 2004, with two separate violations each of which were punished with a fine of £4,000.
The tenants were from Brazil, Portugal, Poland, Italy and Spain.
