A landlord has admitted that he is embarrassed by the state of one of the properties he rented out to a tenant.
Following years of neglect, Chorley Council investigated the house and found that windows were broken and dangerous, while there was no gas safety certificate for the residence.
Inspectors also discovered a soil pipe leaking raw sewage into the property, which is owned by Margaret Pemberton and managed by her son Lee, reports Chorley People.
Councillor Eric Bell described the case as "shocking", adding: "I would urge anyone who rents a property in the borough and has told their landlord about problems with the property, but nothing has been done, to contact Chorley Council."
Mr and Mrs Pemberton were each fined £580 as a result, with the pair ordered to pay almost £500 in court costs between them.
Earlier this week, Introducer Today reported that banned estate agent Peter Hall will be able to work as a letting agent due to a lack of regulation in the industry.
