Landlords are more confident about their futures than previously, according to the findings of a new survey.
Online letting agent Upad, in its Landlord Confidence Index survey, found that 62 per cent of landlords are now more confident compared to when the last questionnaire was carried out.
However, the chief executive of Upad James Davis stated that landlords may be being held back by a lack of available finance from banks.
"Each of them is waiting for their competitors to make the first move. Whoever comes out with a buy-to-let finance at a sensible rate will gain a huge amount of business," he told Property Talk.
The online letting agent head added that Northern Rock recently posted a loss of £200 million due to its failure to offer reasonable rates to lenders.
Earlier this month, the Residential Landlords Association stated that landlords should be offered tax relief in order to carry out home improvements on their properties to make them more energy efficient.
